Business Databases

Databases are the tools to use to find articles in scholarly journals, magazines, trade publications, and other types of information on many subject areas. The Boreham Library has many databases available for BUSINESS that are useful in preparing a SWOT analysis and for other research on companies.

This exercise will help you target the best sources to find the information you identified in the Reflection Worksheet in Module 1.   Click the link for "Business Databases at UAFS Boreham Library."  Based on the official database descriptions provided, complete the worksheet below by writing your own descriptions as to how these databases are useful.

Publications such as Barron's, Economist, Forbes, and Harvard Business Review are indexed in these databases and will provide useful information. 

Search Tips for Databases:

(1) When looking for articles on SWOT for a company In Proquest and Ebsco databases:type SWOT  AND type: Company Name

    You can also Limit by years of publication (date range) and/or by type of publication such as article or scholarly journal.

(2) When looking for a SWOT in Nexis Uni, find COMPANY and then Company Dossier.  Type:  Company Name

(3) In the database Statista, look for broad market trends, consumer preferences, and demographics that affect company profitability and future.
