Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen

                                                                                                                                      

Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, a German engineer and physicist, produced and detected electromagnetic radiation in a wavelength range known as X-rays or Röntgen rays. For this discovery and other accomplishments such as winning the 1901 Nobel Prize in Physics, the element 111, roentgenium was named in his honor.
