Search Strategy

Start research with a search plan.  Try these steps:

  • Choose keywords that describe your topic or do a Subject Search for a person being researched. .
  • Start research on your topic by using a "one search" tool like NUMA or Proquest Central.  You can also search databases or book catalogs individually.
  • Decide what kinds of information you need to include  - background information, articles, books, statistics.  Different types of assignment require one or multiple types of information.
  • Keep track of references you plan to use in your bibliography by using Zotero or another citation manager.
