Finding Scientific Literature
When searching for scientific literature, especially primary source material, it is important to search in the right place! Boreham Library provides access to more than 90 databases, ranging from multidisciplinary to subject specific. These databases provide a helpful tool for identifying peer reviewed/refereed articles through a search option that allows you to limit to these types of articles. The peer review limiting option can be labeled in a number of ways, including: "Peer Reviewed Scholarly Journals," "Peer reviewed," "Refereed," or "Peer Reviewed Journals." Some databases may require to you use the "Advanced Search" feature to select the peer review article limiter.
Tip: Many peer reviewed journals also contain content that is not peer reviewed, this includes book reviews, letters to the editor, and opinion articles. If a database limits to peer reviewed journals, these non-peer reviewed content items will display. It is important that you examine the search results and confirm that the content you are reading is a peer reviewed article.
